The first dog I ever got to know was a giant schnauzer. She and I were born the same year and we grew up together. She's the reason I always wanted a dog of my own. So much character. The little ones remind me of her too.

This post is old but I tried to look at dogs at the shelters. It just made me sad. It has been almost 2 years since I had to put him down. I think I must be stuck. I am down without a dog so I think that I am not able to take care of another dog.

Which is first?

Depression because I don't have a dog

So getting a dog will decrease the depression?

Am I making sense?

Getting another dog could fill an empty place in your heart. You have love to give. It won't take away from the love that you had for your beloved pet that you lost but it can bring a new love to your life.

I've lost many that I will never forget but I've never been sorry for bringing a new one into my life. Each is special.

Best wishes, Gayle
