This story broke a few days ago when police officers rescued a dog that had been shot and tied to railroad tracks. The pic of the officer carrying the injured dog in the story is heart wrenching. It took a couple of days, but police arrested the creeps responsible for this. I believe shooting them and leaving them tied to railroad tracks would be a fitting punishment.

Dogfighting Suspected in Case of Florida Dog Tied to Railroad Tracks - NBC News

Quote:
Four people have been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation of the Florida dog who was shot and tied to railroad tracks last week, Tampa police said Thursday.

Police arrested two men who owned the dog, who was renamed Cabela, late Wednesday night at a home in Tampa and charged them with dog fighting, Tampa Police Department spokeswoman Andrea Davis told NBC News.

Davis said investigators conducted a search of the home where Cabela lived before the shooting and found two additional dogs suffering injuries consistent with dog fighting.

I was saddened by this story. I think better punishment for the offenders would be to clean out hen houses with a 100,000 hens. For those of you that never had the experience, it is a very unpleasant thing to have to do.

Since they used her as a bait dog, could we use them as "bait humans"?

I believe people who do such things are beyond rehab. They need to be put down and set out to feed the vultures and other scavengers. This gives their sorry lives meaning.

The only good thing is that the police took it so seriously. I think that the souless #%@*s should be stunbolted, chopped up and used to feed zoo carnivores. Oh yes, i do.

I saw the heading.....turned my head....then had to find out if the dog made it. I just can't deal with this part of life. I hate this part of life. Having to live among my own breed that is so heartless. I understand animal behavior but not human behavior.

The latest news is that Cabela is recovering well from her surgery. Vets were able to save her leg. Initially they thought it would have to be amputated.

Sadly she is now being treated for a heart worm infection.
