My cats are driving me nuts. They used to get along so good and snuggle while sleeping, follow each other ect but lately they've been up at night fighting. And it's not play fighting either. I have a boy cat and girl cat. The boy has always been temperamental with people but lately whenever my girl walks by him he hisses and then runs under the bed. I have noticed that the girl cat is egging him on by chasing him! I yell for them to shut up but they don't care. I'll say right now that getting rid of one is not an option. I don't have kids, I have pets so they're my babies. I just wish they would get along like they used too! Why do my cats suddenly hate each other?!

Have they been spayed/neutered? If not that might cause the problem.

Lol....they don't want you to miss the joys of having children that always squabble & fight also. I do understand how annoying it is tho

Did anything change in their environment around the time their behavior changed?

Sounds like what I've been through. A few years ago one of my cats went through a phase where he was really angry at his brother, and even ran full speed to hit him in the side when they were in the backyard, and a few weeks later they both got in a really ugly, serious fight that I had to break up. When they settled down, I clipped both of their nails in full view of each other, to send a message that fighting would not be tolerated, and then I went back to bed and they both slept around me. I made sure to show them that I loved them both equally. We were living in a different house at the time, so the stress of that environment may have caused it. They get along much better now.

Permacultural- well I went il through a major depression and my house hot destroyed. Like I piled trash and clutter to the walls and I finally snapped out of it 6 months later and did a major cleaning. No clutter at all.

Blue crustacean- wow you really sent a msg. I wonder if they were fighting over you? I guess now that I think about it, people that come over and maybe even I spend more attention on my girl because she is nicer and cuddly with children. My boy rather be tucked away in a corner or under the bed.
