My daughter has three chickens...(they are pets...NOT livestock to us)...

The problem is that she is moving out of her house soon and going out of state, and cannot take her chickens....

Anyone have any ideas? If you have chickens, then you know they are not easily integrated into an existing flock and we want theme to be loved like we love them...

Incidentally, she gave me a dozen eggs recently....brown blue and green....

Could you keep them yourself?

If you have to get rid of them what about something like PetFinder to find them a new home? Maybe some local 4H'er would like the? Is there maybe a chicken rescue group in your area?

I know what you mean about them being pets. My three ladies will all die of old age.

Thanks Liz! Great ideas...I'll check into them.

I can't keep them in my town...If I could I would. They're so much fun to watch and will come and sit on the chair next to you if you're on the porch..

This is a wild shot but have you ever heard of Nextdoor.com? It's a "private social network for your neighborhood". You join using your address and get to see posts from others in your area. We use it to keep up with the goings on in the neighborhood, curb alerts for discarded treasures, get togethers, placing things for sale, pet rescues, suspicious persons...all kinds of stuff. It's safe and no ads. Maybe state your dilemma as you did here and you might get some good feedback or even find them a new home! Good luck!

Nextdoor.com Sounds like a cool thang

I do hope you have some luck with the birds. It's a tough thing with any pet.
