Such a relief to see my basement skink alive in my entryway the other day. About a week ago I had gone down to my freezer in my basement & found a huge spider on the wall near the freezer. While spiders are good, too many spiders aren't & they over run my house with tiny baby spiders that grow into big ones & end up biting me.

Well I got the bug spray & sprayed the spider. This other thing ran away too & by the shape of the thing at a distance it looked like a millipede....the other icky thing that invades my basement. Anyway, I shot several sprays of bug spray at the thing but when it ran out onto the floor I realized it was the tailless skink (lizard) I had seen the previous week hanging around my basement. I was so upset at myself for spraying it with bug spray the only thing I thought to do was to get several huge glasses of water IMMEDIATELY & douse the poor skink to washnoffnthe bug spray before it could be absorbed into its body. So the poor skink after being sprayed with bug spray got 2 huge glasses of water poured on it & it ran for under my freezer.

I was hoping it hadn't died under there but I didn't see it around until the other day when it (the same tailless one) was sunning itself on my wooden parquet floor of my entry way right in front of my storm door. I scooted it outside though I know it will find its way back in again.

They are all over my house. JoGI (one of my dogs) was chasing one in my upstairs bedroom. Probably what ran off with a dead wasp I had swatted in my window. I had killed 2 wasps & didn't have anything to dump them safely with at the time. The next morning there was only one dead wasp left & no sign of the other one anywhere on the floor, like it just vanished. I had seen a huge 8 inch skink in that window a few weeks ago so I'm guessing it wasn't the last time he would be in my bedroom.

The joys of country living.....but I am so thrilled that my bug spraying the poor little skink didn't kill it not did the 2 glasses of water I dumped on it. I try to control pests while maintaining their natural preditors also but it can be overwhelming when living in the country as there are more strange bugs that come out of my woods that contained in a whole entomology book.

When mowing my back field the other week indisturbed a Gorgeous Luna moth that fluttered off into my neighbors field. There are beautiful insects then the song "the ugly bug ball" comes to mind for others. Learning to coexist with the new nature I live in has it's challenges but spiders in my house are just something I can't tolerate & the 3inch leg span spider that was right next to my dehumidifier the other week was what brought the bug spray into the basement in the first place....that just plain creeped me out & my scream didn't successfully scare it to death either.

I had to read this thread title twice. First time I didn't understand how you can kill a sink - and even if kill is another word for break, why you post about it in the Pets forum.

Lol....I have so many wild life critters running around in my farm house that think they are my pets. Not the kind you necessarily cuddle with but live in my house or coexist in my environment....consider pets not pests even though some become pests & need to be moved out
