My cat Sammy ran away last week. He was not happy with having to live with my son's dog and adjusting to our move. He kept begging to go out, but we wouldn't let him. But he ran out when I opened the front door at one point to put a Christmas wreath up. We didn't have a collar on him, since he was an inside pet. I'm not going to try to find him and just hope someone will take him in. "Stray" cats are not picked up by animal control here. What do you think?

And now it looks like our eleven-year-old Black Lab Astra will need to be put to sleep this week. She won't eat and obviously is in pain. She looks so sad. The vet suspects a stomach tumor and is going to X-ray Astra to see for sure, probably tomorrow.

At least we'll have our "grand dog" Haisley until son David moves back to Indiana in January.

Quite a shock, though, to likely lose both pets in such a short period of time.

I plan on going to the shelter after Haisley leaves to get a new kitty.

So sorry to hear about both of your pets.
Maybe rescuing a cat will be a good thing for you and for the kitty of course.

Your cat might just come back hungry and cold. Sorry about your dog though it is really tough when we lose our furry friends

Am so sorry for your loses. They are like family.
At the shelter they're always needing homes for mid-age & senior dogs.
Thanks for this!

Aw, Trav, that all just plain stinks. Maybe Sammy will come home. How about putting up flyers in the neighborhood? Maybe someone will spot him and let you know.

I'm so sorry about Asta. It hurts so much to have to let them go.

Thanks for this!

A cat I had went missing for three months then turned up in a shelter. Odd but true. Maybe Sammy is bidding his time until the dog has gone.
