After our Sammy ran away, we went to the animal shelter to see if anyone had brought him in. No such luck, but we filled out a form for them to keep an eye out. And we got a new kitty! The shelter folks had named her Caroline and we liked that. I call her Carey. She's about a year old and is grey with brown streaks and brown feet.

We brought her home and put her in our bedroom. She stays under the bed and has been out to use her litter box, but I don't think she's eaten anything.

She was in the shelter for a good while, but had been owned by someone since she has a chip and has been spayed. Any thoughts for getting her to trust us or is just a matter of time?

Aww... congratulations! We want to see a picture! Lots of those toys on a string will help and I guess it'll take her a while to realise she doesn't need to hide now. Perhaps a cosy bed and a cat tree. I like Jackson Galaxy's website, they have lots of suggestions and toys and such there.

Congratulations!!!!!

She probably just needs time to settle in at her new home. Maybe you could go sit in the bedroom and just sort of hang out with her while she adjusts?

Good news! Carey is now out from hiding and is friendly. We took her for a vet check-up, and she passed with flying colors. They said she's a year old.

I'll see about taking and posting a pic. I don't know how.
