One of my foster buddies shared a post on Facebook last night that a person in her pre-shelter intervention group was looking for a transport for a dog from my town to a town just next to where I'm going next week to spend the holidays with my mom. The pre-shelter intervention group basically takes on dogs that will be put in the shelter before they can go to the shelter by fostering and finding them new homes before they make it to the shelter system. It's not uncommon to need transport.

Anyways, they were in the midst of putting together all these legs of the 10 hour trip and trying to get transports in SC and NC, and I saw the post and said, hey, I'm going up on Tuesday, if you can wait until then, I can easily take him the whole way.

So it looks like me and my boys will have a furry hitch hiker on our road trip this week.

I have had to lay off fostering since I officially adopted Fish, although I have had a couple of fosters since then, but I am happy I can do some rescue work by transporting this month. Rescue is just so important to me.

Well, the adoptive family didn't want to wait so they drove down on their own today. So no transport. Oh well.

At least the dog got one ride rather than multiple short trips. Sorry you didn't get to have another friend along for your ride.

Seesaw, seems to me that this is a case of "it's the thought that counts." You were willing to transport the pup. That's what counts.

Folks who are willing to foster have my admiration and thanks. It's an important, caring and compassionate thing to do. Thank you for your part.
Thanks for this!

Thanks, I just don't often get to actually see the adoption. So I was excited to introduce the dog to his new home. But it'sit's a good. I am just happy he got his home for Christmas.
