It's been a rough year for cats here at the farm. Seems like when I get one healthy another gets sick. This time it's Dobby's turn. He was grumpy (not usual for him), picking at his food and just "off" all weekend. Called the vet this morning. They said to bring him right in. We were afraid he had a urinary blockage since he has a history of them.

He wasn't blocked. Matter of fact his bladder was so small (ie empty) they couldn't get a sample. Left him there until they could get a sample. They got the sample, but their machine that does the testing is broken so they had to send it to a lab. *sigh* I ended up leaving him overnight so they can treat him as soon as the results come in.

I'm so silly. I asked the tech to give him a scratch and tell him I still love him. He's never had to stay at the vet overnight.

Asking for postive energy/thoughts for the little man.

I picked him up from the vet Tuesday. The vet was as puzzled as I was. His urine test came back normal - no UTI, no crystals. He peed overnight at the vet. No temp. Heart and lungs sounded normal. No pain when she did a physical exam. Teeth looked fine. She said he did act as if he was trying to chuck up once during the afternoon so they gave him something for nausea. She sent him home and told me to keep an eye on him.

Talking to a friend the other night I remember finding vomit Monday morning. I hadn't paid much attention because Mikey hacks up hairballs regularly. But what I found was just vomit- no hairball. I also discovered that one of them chewed up one of my plants over the weekend. I think the plant is a philodendron, which I think is toxic. With five full grown cats in the house it's hard to know who did what unless I catch them in the act.

At this point I'm thinking he eat part of the plant and it made him sick.

On the plus side, his appetite is almost normal, he's drinking, his activity level is typical, mostly he is acting like his usual self. I'm hoping this means he is on the mend.

He seems back to normal. His appetite is back. What goes in one end is coming out the other. He is back to asking me to leave the bathroom faucet dripping so he can get a drink. Really telling is that he is back to wanting snuggles. He's sleeping with me at night and snuggling on the sofa. Matter of fact I have the laptop balanced on the arm of the sofa right now so he can lay in my lap.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts everyone.
