My cat was having issues with her litter and she gets on and pees frequently a few weeks ago that I bought her drops for UTI from the brand Homeopet. I made the mistake of buying another type of litter when the hurricane Dorian was supposed to come because her original litter ran out. The old litter got stuck to her bottom and t was a mess, I have been cleaning her with water, but I noticed it has irritated her skin and sort of red. I'm worried because she is 18 years old and I don't have money to take her to the vet.

Can you go back to her old litter?
You could put some antibiotic ointment on the raw spots after you clean her. |

I have already changed her litter to the old one since a few days ago. Where could I buy an antibiotic cream? I have heard of Vaseline, but I don’t know if it would be good for a cat.

You can get antibiotic ointment at the pharmacy.

A pediatric type would work for a kitty. Ask the pharmacist or google questions, that might help. There are vet forums around where you can ask questions.

I’m going to the vet tomorrow since it’s not getting better. Her skin is still red with some bumps around her private area and has spread somewhat into her stomach. I’m just nervous because I don’t want to hear bad news due to my anxiety and panic. My dad is going to take her, but he wants me to go...

I took my cat to the vet yesterday and it wasn’t so bad. She has urinary infection so she was given an antibiotic shot that would last for two weeks. The doctor wanted to do blood work to check if she has kidney failure because of her age, but that’s going to be for next time.

Ok. I hope there is no kidney failure.

Made08, urinary tract infections are usually quick cures in cats.

I am glad the cat saw the vet. Hopefully the injection will clear things right up.

I'm glad to hear she's being treated. In the past, I've also had older cats (15 and above) who get UTIs, and my anxiety also kicks in pretty quickly. (Right now I have older dogs. Same thing!) . . . If you need a mild antibiotic ointment that doesn't cause problems for pets, I've used a generic triple antibiotic ointment for babies--I just buy it at the grocery store. . . . I'll be thinking good thoughts about you and your kitty. Very glad you're OK after Dorian too!
