The fireworks and thunder is just too much for my dogs anymore. They are 11 and 9. They end up shaking so bad that the bed moves and panting super fast. I tried the shirt/vest and some kind of essential oil-type calming mist. I tried half a benedryl. None of it worked. I wanted to take them into the vet but I didnt want to look weird by asking this if they do not have something like that for dogs. Car rides are a nightmare as well but we do not take our dogs out unless its the vet or groomer and both are close. Anyone have any idea or suggestions? NJ just legalized certain fireworks which means assholes go over the bridge into PA and buy the ones that are still illegal and try to get away with them since they do not seem to crack down anymore.

Sarah, my BG is terrified of loud noises. Melatonin helps him some times. I buy chewable "treats" at Pet Supermarket. I tried Benadryl for the 4th. He was stoned and nervous, but not as bad as without it.

There are tranquilizers you can get, but they require a script from the vet. Why don't you g in b.c. e you vet's office a call and see what they suggest?
Thanks for this!

there are tranquilizers available for pets from the vets office. it would involve a check up at the minimum prior to having them offered.
