I have a house full of PO'ed critters. Last night BG got his monthly dose of Trifexis. The cats got treated for fleas and worms. They are all of the opinion I am the most hateful person on the planet.

Little Miss J didn't really eat her breakfast today. But she did have a treat in the middle of the night. So I'm not too worried. Mr N gobbled up his food. I'm glad he's eating well. They are resting at the moment. It's too cold to open the slider. Usually, they enjoy fresh air in the morning.

It's sunny here today. And the high temperature is supposed to be in the lower 60's. So early this afternoon we'll be taking our pooch for a nice walk at one of the larger parks in our vicinity. We have to enjoy the few days of nice weather we're supposedly going to have this week. Next Monday it's supposed to start out rainy with a high temperature in the upper 30's. Br-r-r-r...

Sir used to sneak into mum’s bathroom and drink the water with her teeth in it. She couldn’t figure out why the water level went down, then she caught him at it. So she’s been shutting the top of the container and all was peaceful for a few months. Last night he apparently wanted to drink the water and pushed her teeth off the counter onto the floor! the top stayed on tho!

The cats are sleeping this morning. It's supposed to warm up later. I hope to give them some fresh air today. It's supposed to be sunny, so they will enjoy that. I got some more catnip for them. Mr N. hogs it all and Little Miss J smells it but doesn't really know what to think about it. They're so funny!

Overall we're all doing good
but pup, pup really tested limits today with me. Various things to the point I broke down in tears after our last walk. I never yell at her but I did say im done in firm tone and I honestly think she sensed she went too far today. After I said I was done, she sat next to me and began to listen to everything I asked (like heel as we crossed the street) but we were going home still, no more fun outside. We're going to have to get a muzzle which i really dislike & feel I've failed but she won't leave some poop, roadkill, trash , etc alone that are results of humans.. sure inside she's listening to "leave it" but outside it's like a free for all and I've tried. Pup will be a year old soon and there's no sign of her stopping this behavior and I'm at the end of what to do. I hate this idea and for the entire time have said no to this suggestion with hope she'd learn to stop... , but I do remember talking with others at dog parks how some dogs just don't learn to leave things alone and their humans try to help keep them (dog) safe. I already get enough advice irl with strangers (ie pup is too young to understand sit, was one i was told today, which that person got hit back with "she is almost a year old, she knows sit" which even then to them I'm wrong on her age - maddening to say the least). *I've had her since late January and we everyday work on sit then incorporated, down , up, spin, shake, heel, and other things... she knows sit. __________________ "A laugh is worth a hundred groans in any market." My female cat cried a little today. I'm overly sensitive about that cause she's been sick. But she is fine now. So I no longer know what is normal and what is not. My male cat is fine. They sleep a lot more than usual right now. I will try to give them fresh air this morning. And maybe play with them for a little bit. My male cat doesn't come to visit as much as he used to. I miss petting him and grooming him. They just sleep all day.

I just finished a horrible week at work. Add the stress of Covid numbers going through the roof and the election that will never end and my stress level is in the stratosphere. Miss Miette is snuggled up and loving on me. What a sweetie!

Been good, pup had a few days of mischief, like the last post and another day (maybe the next day) like getting off the bed when bed time. I keep a kennel in my room for nights like this & when I take showers, as I don't think it's a good idea she go roaming at night unsupervised. She cried a few times but nothing like when she was 3 months, I had done night bed kennels up until May this year, so it's not entirely new concept just not one we do all the time these days. But I'm consistent - if she doesn't stay in bed & settle, she sleeps in the kennel that night.
With the last post, I haven't gotten a muzzle but during our walks I'm keeping a shorter leash and avidly trying to avoid some areas. It still may be in the future, I just dislike the idea so much. Also we've been better with doing "puppy push ups" before going outside (sit, down a few times, i throw in a spin and shake too & always a treat here and there). I was reading that may help with pup being ready to listen before going outside. Depending on how excited she is , Sometimes we do some more outside before leaving too far. Cats have been good, roommate cat still a grump. She's been bullying my cat, a cat 3x her size, for food and he runs off. Ha.. sometimes comical. Anyways one morning I told her no, before she got too far With running my cat off from his food, and I tapped her bowl (top part of the tower where my cat is lazy and doesn't jump that far)... - she went to her bowl, growled, hissed and smacked at me and then ran off! whatever , silly kitty. This is the first cat I've met that really seems to not like me, but I'm also associated with that rambunctious pup so .. only time will tell, __________________ "A laugh is worth a hundred groans in any market." I bellowed at BG awhile ago. He glues himself to me when he is bothered by the weather. The nine hundredth time I tripped over him I lost it and yelled. He pulled the "sad puppy" face when I did. I suppose I ought to feel badly about it, but fer gawd's sake I don't need to fall over a 75 growth on my leg! |

My car could not care less about what happens outside. The only thing that bothers him is lawnmowers that come too close to the house. But he would not go near an open door that leads outside. He’s a rescue and I think he used to get thrown out. So he stays away from outside doors.

Esther is doing good since she's been home from the hospital (diabetes related) and Amelia is spending more time indoors since it decided to get cold around here suddenly. Esther and Amelia are my kitty cats. Emma my Mom's dog is happy if she can get some of the cat food even though we feed her plenty of dog food, veggies, and treats!

My cats are doing well today. We played this morning. I had a wand toy in each hand. It was funny.

My male cat has been sneezing and crying a little today. I'll keep an eye on him. My female cat was a little fussy earlier. I'm not sure why. She's resting now. It stresses me out when they act out. It's difficult to take them to the vet. I hope they are Okay. I just want some peace.

We had 8 feral cats. One of the males ran off last year before he was neutered (we hope he is OK) and another (the mother who started it all but at least we got her spayed) only occasionally comes so it is really only 5 spayed (plus one male who was neutered) cats. With so many, they mostly stay outside but have had their rabies shots and get monthly flea drops/worm medicine.
Yesterday morning we found one of the females with damage to one back paw (it was lacerated) and on the other back leg (from the "knee" joint to the paw, but not effecting the paw), half of the skin was peeled back. So sad to see. We took her to the vet and he agreed that it was probably caused by a vehicle accident. It is going to take time (2 weeks to a month) for the skin to heel and because some ligaments may have been cut in the damaged paw so he thought she might always have a limp. She is our smallest cat and is occasionally picked on by the other cats though some of them like to play with her too. She is also the most gentle one. She has never given love bites, only love licks and might be the calmest one. She has always seemed happy inside (some of the cats get antsy if they are inside too long and want to go out). This cat is going to be our permanent indoor cat from now on. |
