i grew up with the belief that once a cut is made into the body, that sets off an inflammatory response in the body which in turn might cause things like tumor cells to spread. that might explain why tumors are appearing in other parts of beeg's body. your vet said she feels it is a benign tumor and i hope that is the case. in the meantime, maybe mix a little turmeric in his food? that is a natural anti-inflammatory. you didn't mention what kind of cancer beeg might have but here's some videos on tumors in dogs in case something might help. i sure hope things will get better for him and you soon.

I found what might be a third lump over the weekend. I'm trying not to freak, but multiple lumps does not sound good to me.

We see the vet today. Please send us some positive thoughts. The first lump I found on his side is growing like crazy. I'll post what the vet says.

We are home from the vet. The news is a mixed bag. The two smaller lumps I found recently are fatty tumors. That means non-cancerous. We can ignore them.
The vet said the cells from the large lump look odd for a mast cell tumor (cancer). She thinks it's a mast cell tumor because that's what she removed earlier this year. She's sending the sample to the lab for testing. The tumor has to be removed, but she needs to know what she's dealing with to know how extensive the surgery needs to be. So, good news about the smaller growths. Not great news about the larger one, but pretty much what I expected. Beeg and I are both worn out by the day. I suspect we will both be down for the night fairly early tonight. |
