BG went to the vet today. When he was in over the summer for his shots he had weird, nasty looking growths on one ear and the middle of his back. The vet said they were benign. They would get really ugly then fall off. That's what the one on his ear did. Healed so well you can't even tell where it was.

The one on his back just kept getting bigger and uglier. I sent the vet a couple of pictures. She emailed back and said I should bring him in. Well, it's not the same as what was on his ear. He goes in for surgery Jan 19 to have it removed. The vet's going to send it to a lab for testing. Please keep your fingers crossed for us that it's benign.

Possum, she got it wrong the first time. It's not going to fall off. That's why she's doing surgery to remove it.

Have to wonder what that thing was on beeg's ear then. Seems like a long wait to get this thing removed.

Possum, the thing on his back is something different than what was on his ear.

I wish we could do the surgery sooner too, but she only operates two days a week. She's really busy right now.

Poor BG is terrified of loud noises. Anticipating my redneck neighbors would go batpoop crazy with fireworks I sedated him around 4pm. Good thing I did. They started with loud boomers around 6pm. He is snoozing through it all.

I’m relieved to be in Minnesota, private fireworks are illegal so there’s not a lot. In Texas was a different story. I lived in Austin and it’s a patchwork of legal, illegal and various kinds, so everyone just goes crazy

Fireworks are only legal in Florida to chase critters away from crops. All people have to do is sign a statement that they are using the fireworks for agricultural purposes. Amazing the number of people who live in the city need fireworks for agricultural reasons!

The growth just keeps growing. It's gotten really big. He keeps licking it or trying to rub it on things which makes me think it is bothering him. Surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday. Ill be glad when it's over.

Would a cone help? But I suppose if he is smart enough to rub it on something else then he can get to it either way. Roll on next Tuesday.

He'll have to wear the cone of shame after the surgery. I'm thinking of getting him one of those donut like things instead. He could trash my house wearing a hard cone. Right now he is wearing a sweater and blanket to stay warm. They keep him from licking.

I'm with you. Roll on Tuesday. Let's get the surgery behind us. The vet is going to biopsy the growth. I'm really afraid that it's cancer. Trying to tell myself not to borrow trouble.

It’s hard to not think of the worst. May Tuesday come quickly and it be good news.

Beeg had his surgery today. The vet said the tumor had not gone deep or seemed to have spread. She's sending it to the lab for testing. Cross fingers for us that this is the end of it.

Beeg is home. Still stoned from the anesthesia. He's wearing the cone of shame and struggling to get around with it. If he keeps having trouble I'm thinking of getting him a softer one or an inflatable one.

Here is a picture of the incision. It goes all the way across his back. I'm putting it in a trigger box to avoid grossing people out.

Possible trigger:

Ohh 😮 fingers and toes crossed that this is the end of it. I couldn’t look thanks for putting the picture in a box. My dog growing up had a growth on her lip. They took it off and I almost passed out. But she came though with flying colors and there was no more issues after they removed it. May the same be true for you and BG
