I really miss my dog Biscuit. My ex took her in the divorce. She was the sweetest and most mild mannered dog in the world. In that relationship, for whatever reason, the only person who loved me unconditonally and never stopped was my Biscuit.
I know it seems a bit "far-reaching" to shed so many tears and grieve for losing (in any form) a pet, but they are family and you love them. I remember the last day I saw her. I promised my ex I would take care of her for a week while he was away (he asked me to the same day, but before, he told me he was leaving me.). I remember how hard I cried and how hard it was to say goodbye to her. I hope she is still well. She wouldn't remember me anymore, I don't think.. but I'll always remember her and love her. My biscuit. |

I understand completely how you feel. I've experienced a similar situation with one of my dogs and divorce, and how hard it was to see my pup go. I don't think shedding tears in this situation is at all far reaching. It hurts a lot. I'm sorry that you're feeling this way, but I do understand.
Hang in there. |

Too bad there wasn't a shared custody. Or is that even a possibility with pets?
I'm sorry your ex took Biscuit. Have you thought about getting another doggie? |

I've thought about it, but I don't think it's something that I will do. I just feel like I'll constantly be comparing the new dog to Biscuit. I know falling in love with a new animal helps a lot of people -- but in my head it's just "I'm not looking for something similar, or better -- I just want her". Right now I do live in a household with a cat! I really enjoy her too, but of course cats are much different than dogs with affection haha. I love her though! So in a way, I have another pet to love and care for -- but it's not the same. |
