My immediate neighbors are already celebrating the holiday by shooting guns and setting off big boomers that sound like a friggin' cannon. We live in the boonies so it's legal. They are being safe about it. Shooting so the bullets remain on their property.

This is a country way of celebrating. They aren't doing anything wrong. Still I wish they wouldn't do it. I've got Beeg loaded up on Benadryl and he is still shaking he's so scared. When they set off the big boomers even the cats are scared. Heck the big ones make me jump.

I was concerned about the horses getting Spooked By the noise. They had the sense to move to a part of the pasture well away from the noise.

These folks are good neighbors. I just wish they would find another way to have fun.

Then there are the trailer trash neighbors who like to party and get rowdy. They were setting off fireworks at 11 last night! New Year's Eve they went at it until 2am! Gawd only knows what tonight will be like.

Ugh, I wish my neighbors would also find a different way to have fun. Fireworks are *not* legal where I live, even on July 4th, but people in my dense, urban neighborhood set them off anyway. Last year my neighbors across the street were setting them off pointing towards my house. The street and our cars were covered with fireworks debris. I feel like I have to stay home on the fourth because I worry about them setting my house on fire. I want to make sure I can get my cats out if that happens. I'm looking forward to July 5th!

My plan is to close the windows, turn the lights off, and get into bed. My oldest cat, Solomon, is absolutely terrified of the booming sound of illegal fireworks. If the lights are off though, he seems less afraid...he'll leave the closet and hop up on the bed. Poor guy.

I'm afraid of fire starting from those damn illegal fireworks. I wish the police would take the problem more seriously.

Most fireworks are illegal in my state unfortunately they are legal in the surrounding states so everyone just goes out of state to buy fireworks and bring them back here. Last night for almost two hour fireworks we’re going off. In my neighborhood almost everyone has dogs. Those poor things. My cat fortunately doesn’t care. But I worried for all the wildlife in this area.

I hope everyone and their animals made it through okay. I put the fan on to block some of the sound but the cats hid for the duration. The neighbors across the street did not have the huge party like they had last year, thankfully, so they did not set off fireworks. Some other people nearby were setting them off before it was close to dark (and have been for at least a week) but they aren't close enough to set my house on fire.

I'm not a fan of fireworks. Personally I'm always glad to see July 4th in the rearview mirror each summer. Our poor little pooch was shaking last night. Here where we live, I think last night was the worst in recent memory. I even woke up at 4 a.m. this morning to go pee; and what was the first thing I heard? Two firecrackers go off! Hopefully the majority of the firecracker-brains blew up, last night, most of what they wasted their money on. But I suppose, realistically, that won't be the case & there'll be more lunacy tonight. (My apologies for the rant. I just really dislike fireworks!) Hope all of you made it through with your nerves intact last night.

I hate that people are so obsessed with fireworks in general. We don’t have 4th July as a celebration day here, but people need very little excuse to set off fireworks. Our current dog isn’t bothered (she may be slightly deaf, not sure though), but one of the dogs we had before was nervous of almost everything. She would shake and pee all over the house on fireworks night, until she went deaf from old age, the poor girl.
