Beeg had his annual check up yesterday. No sign of lumps or bumps. Surgical sites healed nicely, though the vet said he looks like he was in a bar room brawl because of the scars. I said I think they give him character. All his tests came back good.
We were about to leave when she asked about the blood on his side. WTF!?!?!? What blood!?!?! The vet, her tech and I all got on the floor with him looking for cuts or whatnot. Then the tech said he's got "happy tail." Yes, that is a real veterinary diagnosis. It happens when a dog is so happy they bang their tail on things so hard it breaks the skin and causes a sore. The silly boy loves going to the vet's office. Yeah, I know that's weird. His whole butt wiggles while he is there. Good news is that his tail is healing nicely. Best news is that the vet said he is a happy, healthy boy so keep doing what we've been doing. |

That’s fantastic news, lizardlady! My brother’s older dog got happy tail and unfortunately had to have most of her tail removed because it wouldn’t heal. Just something others might like to be aware can happen, if they didn’t already know. She was upset at first but now is as happy as she was before she lost it, so it was ok in the end. Animals can be surprisingly adaptable

Beeg rocks. Such good news on your fur baby. Does Beeg have a happy tail at home too?

Beeg is a happy boy. At least he doesn't hurt himself wagging at home. He gets really excited at the vet's. I know most dogs hate going to the vet, but it's one of BG's favorite place to visit.
