Yea! Maryland became the second state to ban declawing cats! "Declawing" is actually amputating the end of the cat's toes. It is cruel and unnecessary.

I wouldn't and didn't declaw my cats, but declawing my childhood cat was necessary because he almost ripped my eyes out. I remember it was unprovoked and he nearly clawed my eyes out, and because my brother was a toddler and I was 4-5 my parents were afraid of us getting hurt, so they decided it was best he was declawed. We never declawed any other cat.

Our cat wasn't declawed. She tears up my chair and scratches me occasionally, but at least she's safer when she goes outside.
