Thursday my dog started to limp by that night H picked her up to bring her into the room. Friday we took her to her clinic. She was there last month for a check up (she has a growth on her leg that we get checked out) until her appointment at the animal hospital. last months vet said she looks good lost eyesight because of her age and to get an appointment to remove the growth but that's it. Well Thursday she started limping and it got bad. Friday we took her back to the clinic (there's a different vet each time).
This time she has advanced cataracts, hip dysplasia and did bloodwork. Bloodwork came back good and gave her meds to give every 12 hours. We have the appointment at the vet hospital tomorrow. She needed to be hand fed tonight. I can't help but think the xrays going to come back bad and we'll have to put her to sleep.

I keep thinking it's all my fault. That I fed her the wrong food, didn't exercise her enough, took her to the wrong vet ....

I have another dog that I get in January. H and nephew joked that I was getting a replacement when I picked out the other dog But she wasn't even sick or anything at that time. And the whole point was she could just enjoy her time and not stress about my nervousness. Now I can't get that thought out of my head that I'm ****ed up and that I was finding her replacement. When that wasn't my intention. I'm just beating myself up.

What's the chance they can give her stronger medication or is it just time?(she's 12.5years old)

It’s unfortunate that dogs in their teens develop both eye and joint problems. It is not your fault. Dogs often require extra care as they age just like we do.

Don’t let yourself go into negative self blaming thoughts. ❤️

Please don't beat yourself up. The fact you are taking her to the vet proves you are a good pet person.

What breed is she? Generally, the larger the dog the less time they have with their humans

please don't beat yourself up, taking her to the vet proves your a wonderful parent to her

I know people who if their pet got sick they would just turn the pet loose and let cat or dog or whatever species of pet, be "someone else's problem"

So we're back from the vet with more pain meds and a supplement However her medication just to keep her comfortable is almost a 4th of my income a month and there's no guarantee it'll help. So we're going to try for 2 weeks and then have a family meeting.

She's a mixed breed 50 lbs.

I have a 14-year-old German shepherd mix who has been dealing with cataracts and arthritis over a bit more than a year. She's on a supplement, but she's definitely slowing down and becoming less mobile.

What's going on with your dog sounds like normal aging. Don't beat yourself up about it. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. It's never easy.
