What I feel is depression is seem to make unable to take care of me dog. Grimm is half Pitbull and half something else of which I don't know because I got him from a fighting pit (he was too small to fight apparently).
I don't have the energy to walk him and half of the time I don't even remember to feed him though I walk past his food bowl every time I leave my room and since I live in a house with 4 people and 4 dogs that all fight each other, it's a chore to even get him out of my room to go to the bathroom. I love him so much and wish I could do so much more for him, but I don't know what to do with him. I don't even have a car to bring him to a park due to my seizures. |

I'm sorry you are struggling to care for yourself, but failing to feed, water, and toilet your dog is serious neglect and animal abuse. I would surrender your dog to a shelter if you cannot euthanize it.

Nicholas, would one of your roommates be willing to feed and walk Grimm while you work on overcoming your depression?
I understand being so depressed you don't want to do anything, been there myself, but Grimm needs to be cared for. Can you reach passed your depression to find a way to care for him? Maybe create a schedule of when he gets fed, when he gets walked. Maybe set an alarm to remind you? |

It's not that I don't do it, it's that I don't do it enough. My "roommates" are my mom, her boyfriend and his mom and my mom's the only one of the 3 that doesn't hate me. Hate kind of a strong word, but she's the one that actually knows what I've been through because she sat in the hospital for 2 years while I was in a coma. I'm going to start walking him more for his sake, probably for my own as well.
It's not okay that I've been neglecting him and I know this, but I've been to lazy and hate getting out of my room seeing as every time I do I get screamed at for doing something wrong when I either did it, didn't do it or it was someone else who did it; it's all on me. I'm taking him out now. I need to change this, because I don't want to give him up and my mom sure as hell won't let me give him up. Wish me luck keeping up with him and I'll keep update on him on here if you guys don't mind. It might be a good thing and a reminder of sorts. Thank you! |

Just got back and filled his food and water bowl. He's understandably tired after the long walk. That walk was a nice way to get out of the house, get him some exercise (I could use the exercise myself) and listen to the podcast I just discovered without having to worry about anything. Maybe if I think about it more that way I'll tend to get him out more often and it'll be beneficial for both of us.

Nicholas, you might find walking Grimm helps your depression. Physical activity helps ease depression.
Good for you for taking him for a walk, then giving him food and water. Please keep us updated on how it goes. |

I intend to do so. I know that if I can get myself nto a routine that should help me, I just couldn't figure out how to start or maybe didn't want to think about it honestly.
Thank you |

I like Grimm better too. Graham is too much of a mouthful.
I was wondering if you named him after the TV show Grimm or the brothers Grimm. I love hearing how our fur babies got their names. |

Nah, I just put the extra m on it because it looked cool lol
I just took him for a mile and a half walk and filled his food and water bowl. I think he's tired because he's laying on the floor and hasn't moved since we got home. Remembered to take my meds, shower and put my therapy podcast on while we were walking. I don't usually remember to take a shower, take my meds or change my clothes unless I go out, but I guess that'll change if I keep doing this |

There's a picture of him in my album. I still have long hair in that picture, but he pretty much looks the same as he did.

He is I should have a better picture somewhere (I know this picture's blurred). I'll post it if I can find it, otherwise I'll take a new one.

Furbabies are such great support & comfort. They give such genuine & unconditional love. It sounds like taking him for a walk is beneficial for both of you. It's not always going to be easy. I understand. If it wasn't for mine, there are days I wouldn't get out of bed. I have two kitties & two senior Chi mixes. All adopted from the shelter where I volunteer. Please do continue to let us know how things are going.

I was thinking that walking would be good for your depression, too, Nicholas.

I've uploaded much better pictures today on my profile to a new album named Grimm. I continued my routine of making myself coffee, taking a shower and walking him while listening to the therapy podcast (which I'll post below if anyone wants to listen to it.
