BG believes it is his duty to warn of danger or strange things on the farm. Yesterday he was barking his "I'm going to eat your face" warning bark. This is his most serious bark, usually reserved for intruders. ALL of the hair on his back was standing up.

When I went to investigate I couldn't see what was bothering him. Then I noticed he was looking up as he barked. Waaaay to the south of us I spotted a blimp. I think it was the Goodyear blimp, but can't swear to it. Beeg looked at me as if making sure I saw it too. He was so upset he was shaking. I stood with him telling him it was okay until he calmed down.

So Beeg was a good boi and protected us from the blimp yesterday.

@lizardlady that is so amazing. I did not think dogs could see that good. Do you think maybe he was barking because of the noise it was making?

I don't know if he could hear it or not. I could not, but dogs have better hearing than us.

He has a variety of barks. The one he made yesterday was his "dangerous intruder" bark. Of course then, this is the same bark he uses when the neighbor's tomcat comes to visit.

My guess is that he never saw anything like that before so assumed it was a danger.

Maybe it was aliens. Time for a new series: "Florida dog identifies alien spacecraft..."!

He could play Scully AND Mulder! He'd be right purdy in a shoulder-length red wig!

I guess blimps do make noise, similar to hot air balloons? Which IS a terrifying outer-worldly sound.

I think blimps are pretty quiet. We used to live near a blimp factory.

Miette and I have an appointment with the vet Monday. No problems, she's going in for her annual stuff. Anyway, I'm going to mention Beeg and the blimp and see what she says.

Probably. I would see them hovering over the company building.

Yeh, blimps are neat. I miss the Goodyear blimp shown at football games or such.

I told the vet about Beeg and the blimp. She said it sounds like he was frightened by it. That fits with the fact he settled a bit when I stood by him. Poor guy was probably wondering what that great big thing in the sky was.
