The most popular people names for dogs

We've had a Misty, an Astra, and a Raven. The first and the last ones I know are names people have had.

I’ve never had a dog or cat named a human name. The shelter I worked changed themes a lot too but the closest human names were after movie characters, like Harry, Hermine and Ron. Hedwig, crookshanks and scabours were also popular. Albus, and dumbledore were good too. Then when the dragon move came out there were a lot of toothless and stormfly’s. I’m sure the names from the iron throne were used too. Oh lord of the ring names were real popular for awhile.

Initially I was going to say my animals don't have human names. Boy was I wrong! In the current crew I have Abby, named for Abby on NCIS. Mikey's full name is Motor Mouth Mikey. Ollie was the main character on Arrow (he has an arrow in his markings that points at his boy parts). Sean Patrick was named by his mom. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Kieran (horse) is an Irish name. I'm proud of my Irish heritage too.

My Dog is Zoey Adele. My dog that passed this year was Emma Louise. My cat that passed last year was Esther Rose. My two cats I have presently are Amelia Jayne and Helen Rose. Again, all people names. They believe they are people so they may as well have people names. And boy is Zoey bossy when she doesn't get her bites of waffle when she thinks it should be her turn to get a bite! Zoey is a name I had picked out if I were to ever have a (people) baby girl. But that doesn't seem to be in the cards so I went ahead and named my beagle Zoey. I needed a Zoey in my life. But I changed the middle name. My Mom picked Zoey's middle name. If I were to have had a human child named Zoey, her middle name would have been Evangeline. *wistful sadness*

My other people child names would have been Zara Elizabeth-Charlotte, and for boys Nicholas James and Timothy John. *extra wistful sadness* I have to have animals because I will never have a human child that is mine. Maybe I will be lucky and marry someone who has children but they won't be the same as having my own.

I've always been in intrigued by the way people name their dogs. Having spent a fair amount of time sitting in the vet's waiting room I've heard the following names often:
BOYS: Max, Jack, Bailey, Cooper
GIRLS: Abby, Lucy, Maggie, Gracie
A woman I met at the park last summer had a cute name for her dog. It was a grey standard size poodle named Betty.

Betty? Yeah, I like that.

My sis has a dog she adopted that was named after the singer Mary J. Blige. Sis calls her Mary Jayne. She always picks people names for her pets because she considers them her children, since she doesn't have any people children.

I always pick people names, too, although I have children. My first cat was named Donald, after a kid in my third grade class! I had a crush on him!

I had 3 cats. Now I just have 2. All 3 were named after cats from movies. One has a human name. I really wanted a dog named Marc Anthony. Not named after Mariah Careys ex. Or an animal named Brandon. Obviously the last name is now out of the question.

Now I kinda want a dog named Chad. I'm not sure how my family would feel about that though.
