I am trying a recipe right now (in baking) for peanut butter & pumpkin doggie cookies. Yummmm, smells good enough to eat myself. Using pie pumpkin puree from pie pumpkins I bought in the fall , organic peanut butter, farm fresh eggs & wheat flour. Taste testing will be done after they are baked & cooled.
Needed to bake something today as it was -4 outside this morning & my kitchen pipes were frozen. Everything working now & no broken pipes. These smell so good baking I know doggies will love them. They both love playing in the snow but in this extreme cold I am not taking them out because they both require me to be out with them & even in my down cost, snow pants, alpaca socks & snow boots I come in freezing. __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. Ooooh, the cookies sound yummy! Would you be willing to sharing the recipe?
Thank heaven your pipes didn't freeze! One of the joys of country living. Do you put boots on the dogs' feet? I saw a picture yesterday of a poor dog's paws that got burned by being outside too long. The dog was running around having fun in the snow. Owner did not realize there was a problem until they got inside. I hear you about standing outside in the cold watching them. Makes me want to say "Will ya just hurry up and pee!!!" |

The recipe is here:Homemade Dog Treats (Peanut Butter and Pumpkin)
Definitely a hit with Cote (but he eats anything) & Sophie chewed the first one carefully then the 2nd one was really good. She doesn't gulp her food down like Cote does. Didn't get boots for them yet. Last year we didn't get much snow so I wasn't thinking about getting prepared this year though Cote would probably shred them before he got out the door. I basically do a once around the house & then the 2 burn piles in the front field. By the time he makes it around the 2nd burn pile he makes an "afterburner" run for the front door as I huff & puff up the hill. Then we thaw out before I give Sophie her walk. Around the same area only we go out the basement sliding door. Cote plays rough with her & then she gets pretty tough back at him grabbing his throat or nose. I quit taking them out together after I ended up with a fractured finger from her going after him & her leash pulled out of my hand. I have a new longer leash now (30 ft) but not wanting to deal with both in the snow. Lol....Cote would rather play than pee. Sophie is great with her potty walks. I also don't take them out in really low single digit or below temps. Potty pads are a good enough solution __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck.
