Not sure if this needed a trigger warning or not. Has anyone seen the latest TicToc trend of tossing a dog a piece of lemon? Apparently the morons think it is hysterical to watch the reaction of the dog, who thinks s/he is being tossed a treat only to discover they have something nasty and bitter in their mouth.
I can't say what I'm thinking, but what a cruel thing to do. Not to mention it is going to harm/destroy your dog's trust. I saw someone defending this, saying it's a way to train your dog hot to eat treats tossed to them by strangers. Horsehockey! There has to be a kinder way of training a dog not to take treats from strangers. |

@lizardlady I think that people trying to justify this action are like bullies who justify their actions with made up excuses. It is mean and cruel.
That is one reason I do not go to TikTok. [If you want me to see your reply to this post please include @CANDC in your message - not in requoting my message] __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |

@CANDC, I don't go to TicTok either. From what I hear it encourages people to act like fools to gain views. If people want to act like edjits by doing things to themselves (Tide pod challenge) well, ya can't fix stupid. People doing something to harm animals for their 15 minutes of fame is ....once again I cannot say what I am thinking
When I read about the lemon slice thing I thought of my Hazel. I don't know much about her history, but she was at our local shelter twice in her life. I am honored that she trusts me. The idea of doing something to destroy that trust sickens me. |

Divine, I don't think they care. Think of all the stupid TicTok challenges that have made the news.

once Tic toc banning nationwide is complete google store will no longer have the tic toc app available in the USA. those that already have tic toc on their digital devices well, once the banning is law, their tic toc apps wont receive any updates to keep it working, so eventually their existing tic toc app wont work anymore. So when the banning legislation first began I removed my tic toc app from my cell phone and blocked it on my computers and laptops. this way my family can get used to not watching tic toc. before it becomes law. if you google it you will find more information about tic toc banning in the USA. |

Amanda louise, I don't watch TicTok and don't have the app. I found out about this when I saw a news story about it.
I have mixed feelings about the guv'ment blocking TicTok. Liberal that I am I have a problem with this. People need to take personal responsibility for what they view on line. Parents need to monitor what their kids are doing online. |

from what I understand its a national security issue with a country (china) and parent company (Bytedance) who runs and owns tic toc who does not uphold the same rights and confidentialities that americans have with their governmental personal information. imagine if for ............example........... if doc john was required to report to the state, and federal government who "lizard lady" is, what you are posting about, your location, your registration information, your ip address of your computer/ digital device, your phone number, whether you agree with the government in control and any other protected by privacy laws like your mental health records, your physical health records and so on. now that was just an .........example....... but its that kinds of stuff this ban is going to protect American's from.... an external attack from a country that is not upholding American rights to privacy of their governmental information. from a country that has made repeated attempts and or threats to breach our governmental structure through documenting and storing personal data about those Americans who have tic toc accounts. America does have its own streaming and video clip apps so the loss of tic toc for the most part does not affect me and my family, we rarely if ever watched tic toc even before I removed the app. I mean there are facebook videos, facebook reels, and youtube. and streaming networks like netflix/ paramount, amazon, peacock, hulu, disney and more. we watch more streaming than we ever did tic toc. lol |

I am in support of tic toc being banned.
It’s not as simple as monitoring. You might monitor your kid but other kid will show them things at school or at a birthday party. Even the most wonderful parents watching kids 24/7 cannot protect them from everything. That’s the difficult part of parenting. You can only do so much Sadly there’s lots of junk on other platforms |

That's just it Divine. Are we going to ban all the other social media platforms?
Please don't get me wrong folks. I am not supporting TicTok. From what I hear it's crap, but then I think Facebook, snapshot, Twitter, etc.are all crap too. I realize this makes me an oddity, but I have no social media, period. MSF is the closest I have to social media. Anyway, back to the original topic. Poor puppers. I read about that kind of cruelty and want to run hug Hazel. |

I will just say that the ban is short-sighted. The Chinese gov't, just like any country, can readily buy all of our marketing data profiles from third-parties like so many companies do today. The fact that they're vacuuming up this data via their own platform is just convenience, by cutting out a middle-man. It will do absolutely zero to keeping our country safer or keeping the kind of data that tiktok collects out of China's hands.
But that's what our gov't likes to do -- waste time on symbolic measures like this because they're popular with some sub-group of Americans (most of whom don't know what tiktok is or use it). Tens of thousands (maybe even hundreds of thousands) of Americans rely on tiktok as their primary source of income, as creators. A ban like this would put those people out of work. I don't think tiktok should allow mean-spirited trends on their platform. But I did find similar videos on other platforms, so I guess it's not specific to tiktok. __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |
