Personally I can't see how anyone can disagree with the fact that a bird is an animal

But I have witnessed it: someone claims that A duck is a bird, but is not an animal because they are different

Yes a bird is an animal. It’s warm blooded and has a backbone. Some of them are very smart, like the crow and parrots 🦜

Yup. Insects, fish, roundworms, and reptiles are animals too.

From the Cambridge dictionary

Animal
a living thing that can move and eat and react to the world through its senses, esp. of sight and hearing: Mammals, insects, reptiles, and birds are all animals. In ordinary use, animal means all living beings except humans: A lion is a wild animal, and a dog is a domestic animal.

Birds are animals. Maybe the person meant to say (or write) that birds are not mammals, which is true.

Also, humans are animals.
