Since Milton blew through and hammered us the wild birds have not been coming to eat from my bird feeders. This morning the yard is full of birds! It's nice to see them back.

Thanks Una. It was kinda creepy not seeing or hearing birds after the storm. Wind damage was so bad around here I wonder if their nests got blown down. Or maybe they evacuated and just got back?

So i googled "where do birds go in a hurricane". Interesting. But it didnt really answer your specific question. Like there doesnt seem to be something for birds that corresponds to the CDS - Cat Distribution System - that i read about on facebook!

I just fell down a rabbit hole at Google searching what birds do in a hurricane. As one article said "they do the best they can." Some hunker down. Some "evacuate." They find places to hide. Sadly, some are killed.
Something I did think about was that their food sources got destroyed. Plants got deluded by the wind. Bugs got blown away. Going to keep the bird feeders full so they have something to eat. |
