Okay...I've had this exp. before...dog eating cat poop, even dog eating its own poop. Fozzie Bear, 6 month old shelter rescue, doesn't seem to eat his own, but is now getting into the litter box of the cats in the garage and enjoying himself immensely!
Experience with this and advice appreciated. Patty ![]() |

Doggies are strange...
I'd advise putting a lid on the kitty-litter pan, a sort of "door" so that the cats can go in and do their business... but it gives them some privacy, and makes it a little bit more difficult for doggies to get into them at the same time... If that fails... try putting it somewhere the dog can't reach (up high) or put up a barrier in a room so that only the cat can enter... or maybe even a "cat door" on an indoor door so the cat can get into the closed room but the dog can't? Beyond that... training school might help some.

Thanks Christina and Luvdogs!
I guess I will have to move the litter to a higher location, and hope the cats will adjust. These two Maine Coons are inside/outside cats and actually prefer to go outside to do their business, which is great, but now with cold weather I've been keeping them inside with the garage door closed. I had to do this since finding an o'possum in the garage one cold night. Thanks muchly! LOve Patty |

From what I understand, there are some nutrients excreted in the cat poop that the dogs seem to enjoy. Far be it from me to judge what another eats, but can I just say

EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! BARF!
Patty, your dog isn't getting the nutrients that it needs. Maybe a change in food is needed. Look for a higher protein dog food. GAGMEWITHASPOON!!! ![]()
