I swear he waits until I get laid down on the couch and all comfortable under the blankets to ask to go out. He has done it twice to me today. He watches me, sitting in front of the T.V. staring at me I get all comfy under the covers all situatuated. Then he goes to the door and looks at me like ha gotcha. You have get all uncovered and let me out. And some people say animals aren't smart...they need to see this little dance LOL.

This made me almost laugh out loud. My cats don't do that, exactly, but they do want to be let out when they want to be let out. Except one, who needs to spend a long time deciding if she really wants to go out, while the cold, cold air comes in the door...

Tyger does this too. I ask him does he need an engraved invitation to go outside? He does this sometimes too when he wants to come in. When he wants to come in he hops up in the window and bats and the screen to let me know he wants to come in and then hops down but the other night it was storming and he got scared and froze on the window sill and I had to go rescue him. There is actually a reason cats do that "stand in the doorway looking around thing".
Its an instinctual thing from their wild counterparts who lived in caves and such - they would look for predators before going outside. So basically they are just assessing to see if its safe. |
