Would like people's opinion on whether this is some type of ED. I have been obese since childhood. In my twenties I had realized that everytime I attempted to diet, I would fail and then gain even more weight. So I decided back then to no longer watch everything I ate. In '92, I had gastroplasty surgery which failed after I lost about sixty pounds. Too many emotional issues.

Anyway for the past several years, I have again made attempts to eat better. I will figure out something I'm willing to eat, and that's all I'll eat, when I do eat, for sometimes weeks or months at a time. I obsess over my weight and will turn to binge eating if I find I don't lose what I consider the proper weight.

I have had to stop eating properly to lose weight, I just focus on trying to eat healthy and know if I start focussing on my weight, the obsession and stress will start again.

Does this make sense? Any opinions on whether this is an official ED? Or is this just neurotic behavior on my part that goes to the extreme. My doctor stopped discussing weight and diet with me because they have figured out that I focus too much on it.
