Help, I love chocolate. Sometimes I can't stop eating it. I just binged on a big bar of it and now I feel very sick. I know it was wrong. I don't even want it. But if I'm a bit hungry, been out busy today for hours and just had a bit of cereal ages ago, had a square of chocolate and ended up scoffing it all.
If I go without chocolate for a day I'm really run down and can't explain it but must have more. It's like I imagine what smokers have if they're without a cigarette for a long time. I'm like this with chocolate. It's making me unwell and I dn't even want to eat rubbish. What can I do? |

Maybe you're a little low in magnesium?
Also, there is evidence that chocolate prompts the release of dopamine, a feel-good chemical in the brain. I would post links but pretty much every news article about it has photos of chocolate, which may be triggering for some, but if you'd like information about it, run a web search for "chocolate and dopamine." You asked what you could do. Exercise prompts the release of dopamine. So does sex. I've read in a few places that avocado, bananas, lima beans, and other non-chocolate foods that contain tyrosine help boost dopamine. Bananas are kind of a double-plus because they also contain magnesium. Last edited by Marielle; May 03, 2014 at 12:32 PM. Reason: offering solutions |

Thank you so much for that wonderful advice.
Sorry I haven't been posting on the forum for a few days xxx You're right about low in magnesium. The suggestion you made is very clear and I love nuts and fruit especially bananas. |
