I suspected for a long time I had something like this going on and my psych told me today I do. So now when I go in for my appointments with him I get weighed and I have to keep track of my binges.

He prescribed me a medication that's supposed to help limit appetite and I'm hoping to the heavens it works. I've gained at least 100 pounds since I graduated high school three years ago. This year was at least 20 lbs of that 100. It's so hard because I just can't stop eating. I'm always hungry and I spend so much money on food too because I just feel like I have to keep eating it.

Has anyone had luck with Vyvanse? That's what he prescribed me. He warned me about possible interactions with my Bipolar and that I could get jittery but otherwise that it should help me.

It's just been so hard to deal with this that I'm really hoping this will help. I'm going to do my best to be good and not eat around the medication, as he put it.

I've actually been on it for almost a week now and so far it's been helping a lot. The next step is finding a new therapist since I haven't been in therapy for a long time. My parents won't let me see anyone outside of my college town because I don't have a car and they don't want to bring me the car anymore but that severely limited me to two therapists.... Both of which don't work. ):

Thanks for the link, I'll take a look at it!

My doctor actually gave me that today, he wants me to go for am EKG before I can start taking it tho. He doesn't necessarily think I have BED but thinks it might help.
I am also looking for info on this medication. Good luck with it

Hi everyone. Ummm, of course I could be wrong, but this med is closely related to amphetamine, though not as strong. When I was very overweight I visited a private Dr who ran a ''slimming clinic'' and basically the medication he offered was very similar to the one you've named. YES, I have to say this family of meds really DID help with taking away the hunger pangs. The only slight problem I had was sleeping, I just couldn't wind down at night and wanted to keep doing things way into the night and early hours of the morning!! YES, I did manage to stop binging and I DID loose weight. However, the med I had didn't agree with me in the prescribed dose, meaning the one tablet early in the morning AND the one later in the day (around 3pm) was simply too much for me. When I cut the dose to just the one early in the morning and none for the rest of the day worked well. In fact, I eventually found that I could skip a day in between, just taking one tablet early in the morning every other day. The only problem I did find was when I tried to wean off of the tablets, after a few days I went back to semi~binging again. I say ''semi'' because the binges were not so long or so calorific then previously. It's a case of finding something which totally agrees with YOU and in the smallest dose to be therapeutic. That is what scares me, I start the medication, it works and when it's time to come off I gain everything back. Good luck with your long term.
