Hey
I just signed up on here as a means to try and distract myself from wanting to eat. In the past fifteen minutes I've gone to get the bread out of the cupboard to make a sandwich, had an internal battle with myself and then put it back a total of four times. I can't remember how it felt to not be obsessed with food and I feel like I'm struggling more than ever now. I have no one I can really talk to here. I'm somehow the higher end of a healthy BMI so I think anyone I do confide in doesn't really believe I have a genuine problem. That alongside the fact that I just make a joke about the huge amounts I eat means people don't take it seriously. I could do with someone to talk to on afternoons like this, someone who just gets how it is. |

If you are looking for self help methods these are some that have helped me. I have to watch what I eat because foods I eat can stabilize my moods or exaggerate them. A high protein low carb diet with snacks or meals every 3-4 hours will over time reduce my swings. I also avoid alcohol and recreational drugs because those can really increase depression. Other lifestyle changes that help me are doing yoga, exercises, mindfulness, calm music, and being active on Psych Central.
