I am the worst when it comes to eating. I try very hard to be healthy but then I end up binging. Sometimes it's on good food but most of the time I would rather just sit and eat a big container of ice cream. I've tried overeaters anoymouns but that didn't work. I even take mediciation to surpress my appetite. Am I the only one with this?

That is rough.

Although I am not in your shoes, I suspect that I suffer something a bit similar since I eat to excess if I don't really stay vigilant about what and how much I eat or if I skip exercise. I feel like every new day is day zero again and the battle starts all over again.

My A1C was very high and I was luckily able to bring it down. But the struggle is never really over. It wears me out mentally.

I suspect a lot of it is genetically hardwired into people.

The pandemic lockdowns didn't help me. They made everything worse on that front.

I do what I can.

I think everybody does the best they can given everything influencing them moment to moment. Since we don't see what influences others struggle against, I think it is easy to fall prey to making false comparisons between people. Perhaps the burden I bear is lighter than this person's but heavier than that person's. What might be a battle to one is an all out war to some other poor soul. Wish I had an answer. Sorry that life isn't easier on you!

Thank Yaowen. It's interesting how we seem so similar. My A1C was high but then again I've been a diabetic since 2000. Over eating never helps. You are right about the lockdowns although I will say I didn't have to entirely not work. My job was still going just on a limited schedule. But those days not in the office didn't help my waistline. I'm happy we could meet on here since we seem similar but sorry it's under these circumstances. I don't like that people have to struggle including myself but everyone says that's life. Kinda of a life I would not rather be in but that's a discussion under another thread.

I don't show it but I am not a good eater. I really would like to eat ice cream out of the tub. It is not good but I do it seldom only due to the lack of availability. I can feel your pain though and I really don't have strong opinions until I feel like others are celebrating their own failures by encouraging failure in mine. I don't know why people do that. They see a trigger...

To report a post. You can hit it to see. It takes another step to actually report the post it's attached to.
Thanks for this!

Notme I’m an overeater also. You’re not alone and it’s a battle for sure. I’ve been struggling with eating disorders since my mother died 30 some years ago. Before that I ate everything in moderation generally

I used to be an occassional binge eater but that has ended.

Moderation I think makes me want to binge.

I do alternate day fasting now. One day you fast... one day you feast. The day I feast I get to eat whatever I want and... I am not limited as to calories. The next day fast stops the damage. On the day you feast... you go to bed full. And I think it keeps you from binging.

So say on your feast day you eat 2000 calories... and then you have nothing (or very little) the next day.. you only at about 1200 cals over two days.

I think alternate day fasting mimics our natural appetite. I do it more informally. Like today i just had a lot of salad for lunch, oh also with salad dressing and some wasa crackers. Yesterday, last night specifically, after 3 small meals, i ate a whole package of fake lobster, again with dressing, because i felt light headed and somewhat hungry. Then today, not really hungry.

Agree. I think being full sends some signal to your brain that it shouldn't eat... and that full feeling tends to carry over to the fast day. So the fast day isn't as bad as you might think.

Whereas... when I used to eat moderation calories every day... I never got full... and thus.. the full signal never got activated. I was always in a state of wanting food and what I got was never enough.
