I got really upset because i took a comment(elsewhere) literally and couldn't see that it was meant humorously. It's not always(often isn't) easy for me to tell if people are being serious/hostile or humorous/benign.
Paranoia induced by past experiences exacerbates the situation and can have me interpreting things literally in a negative way.

I do that and I'm a comedian. It's like I'm only a comedian with outgoing remarks - all incoming comments are taken seriously. Or hey maybe it just wasn't that funny. That would be the would-be joker's fault, not ours!
