We have a 16 year old daughter, bi-polar and ADHD. She's gotten more in control over the past year, but the behavior problems continue, including poor school performance. Her therapist said we might consider a summer camp experience for her, one that specializes in helping kids with behavioral problems. Have any of you tried such a camp? Which one? Did it help?

Hi there. Well, sorry you've faced so many difficulties with your daughter. I know how exhausting that can be for parents, especially if our children don't seem to be improving. But, it sounds like you're doing all you can for her and getting some good support from your daughter's therapist.

As far as recommendations on camps go, I know from my time at Focus on the Family that their counselors there have a referral list of various residential treatment programs/camp options for teens that you might be interested in talking to them about. You can give them a call for free at 855-771-HELP (4357).

I've also heard the Christian Camp and Conference Association can provide recommendations of this nature. Lastly, Teen Challenge USA also has a lot of locations around the country to help parents with troubled teens. So, I'm sure you could look these organizations up online and see if they'd work for you. Just some options to consider... Hope they help! I'll be praying for your family.
