Hello!
My name is Learn, and I'm pretty new. I have a few questions concerning my wife of three years. First a little background. I'm and ExParkinson's Caregiver of 15 years (father) my time with him, gave me quite the education concerning degenerative neurological disorders. Parkinson causes a phenomena called being "off" basically the dopamine center of your brain "shuts down" causing you to be "off" This causes many of the "Automatic systems" in your body to go haywire Things like speech become sluured (like drunk) or the words don;t go together in a way that makes sense. Also balance becomes very bad and falling happens often, Also extreme loss of time, for example, three minutes will pass but to the person, They will say "WHERE have you been?" And they will think it's been two or three days. Very disconcerting. According to our Neurologist Dr. Delong at Emory Medical center, most of these symptoms were primarily due to brain shrinkage or Dimentia. Now the question, My wife of 30, 2-3 night a week experiences EXTREME confusion, unintelligibal speech, hallucinations and loss of time. She also confusese me with her previous boyfriends whom she does not like very much. I have already taken her to a Neurologist, who cannot find anything wrong with her, but he is not seeing her during her "fits" He has recommended a sleep study, which is going to cost me 3500 dollars! While I am saving up for the sleep study, I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? What might this be called? If I can figure out what it might be called I can research it better ![]() I am very appreciative of any help rendered! Thanks, Learn |
