I have a daughter, 21 now, who was diagnosed with bipolar at 13. She had many problems that started around 5 years old. PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, depression...she was on disability until she became 18.We fought the decision for nearly 3 years. We lost the case. I now need encouragement and guidance because I just don't know what else to do. I am a fighter and want to do whatever it takes to get her back on track. We are in the last appeal stage.
In the 4th grade she ran away from school. Pretty frightening to get a phone call saying my 10 year old is missing from school. All this because she said the teacher was picking on her, but what really happened is someone dared her to leave and she did...she has ALWAYS taken risks. This isn't the first time she was missing from school... About my daughter...she is impulsive and is nearly $18,000 (yes 18 thousand) in debt. Just in 2 years She had a job, but it lasted for less than a month and has applied for numerous jobs since June 2013.no one will hire her.. She mentioned being harassed at work. The thing of it is she is a great organizer and is very intelligent. But what really happened at work??? She has a HIGH sex drive and she will always tell me her experiences. More than I want to hear, but I never turn her away from talking to me about anything. She has smashed out my windshield, pulled off my rear view mirror like it was nothing...after coming back to reality, she is crying so hard and so sad and is apologetic. I know this is not her fault. She now has a car. And it had to be a brand new one...now 3 months behind on payments. ...if she loses her car I don't know what she will do..mood wise. When she gets in a rage she may take off in her car recklessly. She has a three year old. . And I have my little grand baby most of the time. She finds reasons why the baby should stay with me. Which in most cases I'd rather have the baby with me...no problem there. My daughter can stay awake all night and all the next day... She has the highest tolerance for PAIN. After a C-section she took absolutely no pain medication after coming home. She has punched things causing obvious swelling to her hand but no pain medicine, she fell off a porch and hurt both of her legs. Went to ER, had crutches and a lot of swelling but did not take pain medicine. The next day she was walking in pain but she didn't care. She had to be able to drive so she just took the pain The list goes on Not only is she on a roller coaster but so am I, and the whole family thinks I am nuts for giving her the attention I give her. It really has put a strain on me and my family. They all look at her and treat her like an outcast. I believe that she needed me and still needs me. If I had not been there for her where would she be now? It would just tear me up if she committed suicide or hurt herself in some way. (At 14 she ran onto a highway to be hit by a car). How do I just not give up?...I'm young..not 50 yet. But I feel 80. Lol Thanks in advance to anyone who has advice |

Her child is 3, Get her public housing (with utilities included), WIC, Medicaid and food stamps. She has no income so she should recive a low rent which you may be able to pay. It usually isn't in the best area but it's something. Let her loose her car. Then go to a "buy here- pay here" car place that you can get a car for around $2000 with monthly payments. Yes it may be a low end car but it does what it has too. We got a 6 year old Dodge for $2000. Her daughter is old enough to go to head start. Is she in therapy? Is she on meds? Could you convince her to go to a partial hospitalization program? She needs to also look into bankrupcy.

Pretty much follows the same story I have but now my daughter is 31. The rage is like something I've seen in a movie and yes, our whole family treats her as an outcast and I don't blame them, she has done so much to deserve their rejection, yet she thinks they are being mean to her. She thinks a simple I'm sorry solves it all. Her spending is out of control, if she finds a nickel she has to run to the store. She even goes door to door asking people for bottles to take for return money.
It took some doing but she did get on SSI, problem with that is she gets the money and doesn't pay her bills. When she was on public assistance at least they sent the money directly to utilities and paid her rent. She rents an apartment from us and is already behind. I so know what you are going through and I wish I could tell you it gets better. When I did let her stay in jail one condition on her release was court ordered MHA meetings and therapy and church meetings. I saw a whole different person for that brief time. She's right back where she was now that the court orders are over so I know they can choose a different path, they just have to be the ones to do it. Hugs!!! |
