Yesterday my 27-yr-old son, who has been diagnosed schizophrenic, left our house without saying anything to anyone and started walking to his friends house.
His friend who lives 95 miles away. He had no money, and nothing but his coat and his phone. He hitchhiked and was picked up, providentially, by a friend of his and someone I know somewhat. To shorten a longish story, he spent the night at the friend's house and was given a ride back this morning. I'm grateful that he didn't get to the house of the friend he was headed to because that friend does drugs. My husband works during the day and I'm home. He said to me that I need to watch Jeff more closely. I think that is not realistic. He's not two, and we don't have a locked facility in our home. Please, if you have advice, I don't know how to do this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

your husband is being unrealistic expecting you to watch your son's every move. check into a NAMI support group in your area. they have peer to peer support groups for family members of those suffering from mental illness. they can give you the support you need in dealing with your son. take care.

Thank you kaliope. I did finally get the schedule for NAMI meetings. We have them twice a month here so I will go next Thursday. I asked my husband if he would go and he said, "can they fix him, can they heal him?"
This is going to be a hell of a ride! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
