I need help. For a long time my mother has been going to the doctor because of several mental illness but now she has seemed to develop sever paranoia and there is no way getting through to her. She really thinks she has stalkers who break into her house daily and use her things and take her clothes. I have confirmed many times to her that no one is entering her house by installing security cameras in her home. Also tried leaving multiple 100 dollar bills on the kitchen table which is the first thing you see when you walk in the house. The logic behind that was that if the money is still there no one entered(stealing) and if the money is not there, there are obviously people entering. She says people are watching her through the walls and that there are security cameras watching her in her room. Every time she comes to visit me she brings all of her food because she says they poison her. She says all of her phones are tapped and that people are listening. Now this next one can be even stronger than severe paranoia... She now says that people are touching her private parts with the WIFI connection. My younger brother also has mental issues and now think he has the same issues as my mother.... I seriously need help as she does not want me to talk to her physchologist.

It may not be a psychologist, but a gerontologist that you need. Once upon a time I worked with a Federal program called Area Agency on Aging. They are a wonderful resource. They exist across the US, sometimes in every county, sometimes a collection of counties.

Check it out on the web, I'm positive there is at least one office in NY. They will help you with everything from information, to respite care, food delivery, medical info, transportation, etc.

Good luck!

sorry not many have responded.
this forum does not seem to get many views.
What diagnosis has she had in the past?
bipolar can sometimes cause psychosis and paranoia along with some other illnesses.
can you contact her doctor and let him know whats going on? You need to even if she says no. He will keep it confidential.
Thanks for this!

Sounds like some type of dementia to me and yes it can happen at 40. Can you get her to go to a regular doctor and give the doctor a heads up about your suspicions?
