Hi there, lorileirn.

Just bumping up your post, in the hope that someone can provide some tips for you.

Is your son/daughter receiving any professional treatment, such as counseling or therapist? If not, perhaps that would help?

to Psych Central, by the way!

We have had this problem pretty much all year (9th grade) even though she is tested and gifted. However since being diagnosed and put on Lithium and Abilify this problem has improved significantly. I agree with counseling if he or she is not already involved. It can really help, along with the right meds and dosages. Once the illness is under control with the right medications maybe you could try some type of reward system? Have you talked with the school guidance counselor?

Good luck to you from a fellow mom who can totally empathize!
