I have been with my bf for five years and I love him so much. when we first got together the first few years were great, then he started using pretty much any drug he got his hands on. Crack, LSD, Opiets, cocaine, heroine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana. Well he was was tripping LSD and he thought I said I cheated on him, we broke up then got back together.. things got better after that. Then he started to lie to me and go behind my back and do drugs 24/7. The drug use got so bad that he had broke up with me just to go on drug binges, he got so low on drugs he sold everything we owned and stole money. We ran away and went camping for 2 weeks. during all this time he started to get so paranoid, angry, wasn't sleeping right, drinking a lot of energy drinks, fighting with me. Then he started to use the synthetic marijuana, he got so bad on it he thought cops were watching our house, everyone of his friends had slept with me (I have never been with any other guy but him), also thought all of his friends were informants with the cops. Well as time goes on he becomes so dependant on the fake pot if he didnt have it he was angry and when he did have it he was a zombie. On june 5 we broke up i moved back home and he had came to my house and said that the government was ran by nazis and his work ws shipping drugs from different countries, and everybody was out to get him and kill him. he was admitted to the hospital for suicidal thoughts, the was put on a 72 hour hold on the psych floor, they diagnoised him with a drug induced psychosis. on the 3rd day he was not any better and was refusing the meds and a guard came up to give him the meds and my bf punched him and knocked 3 of his teeth out then was transferred to a mental hospital since he has bee at this new hospital he has been put on abilify. But he has not told me his diagnosis. The first few weeks he was barely talking to me and would only see me once every few weeks. no he is starting to act normal but still paraniod. I just wish i knew his diagnosis. His mother has been diagnosed with Boreder line personality disorder, and she told me his uncle is bipolar. Is my bf schizophrenic, or bipolar??

hi dessy
at this point, his diagnosis isn't important. getting clean and sober is. if bipolar runs in the family, chances are he is that rather than schizophrenic. it is common to use substances to cope with bipolar symptoms. he has a long road ahead of him. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome
