So I posted in the OCD forum about resources to support my girlfriend with OCD. I don't want to change or cure her. She is taking meds and sees a psychologist so I know that isn't my role. I just want to understand her and support her the way she needs.

My question now has become more a little more direct about depression. I know she has been depressed lately but it hit me today when I surprised her after going to the store near her house. I drove up and I saw her just hysterically crying on her stairs through her glass door because she just got home and had left the front door wide open. It scared me because I know she just took her cat to the vet and put her on some medication so I thought something happened to the cat so I ran inside. The cat is fine but she isnt

I just talked to her a few minutes ago after putting my kids to bed and she described that she is still in a funk. She mentioned that she is tired of it all and tired of herself. She just wants to sleep forever.

I'm not worried about her doing something to herself but more concerned about her health. I knew she was having issues for awhile but just realized how depressed she is. I don't know if its her ocd medication (she changed prescriptions about 6-7 months ago) or something else.

I don't want to tell her what she needs to do.. especially that she may want to consider taking something for the depression. She is going to a psychologist (and has a psychiatrist for the OCD medications) but I feel the need to do something proactive for her.

Any thoughts or insights would be most appreciated. Thank you.

That's very sweet of you to want to help her . I think you could gently suggest that you are worried about her and ask her if she thinks she could use a different medication to help with her depression?
Good luck
