My mother has been very paranoid the past few months. she has taken apart her car, all of her electronics, called the police etc. She is under the impression her ex boyfriend is raping her in her sleep and drugging her and watching her. She now thinks my uncles boyfriend is involved.

I dont know what to do, she has been to the hospital twice in the past 2 weeks for 3 days at a time each, but she seems to be getting worse.

Any Ideas?

I wonder why this post was moved to the Partners of People with Personality Disorders when the poster is the daughter of a woman exhibiting a possible psychotic disorder.

Is this a big change for her? Has she started taking any medications recently? How old is she? Have the doctors talked to you about a diagnosis or treatment? How did she end up in the hospital?

Well she has been to hospitals dealing with mental health before ( according to my dad) but never for anything as bad as this. She and my dad divorced 4 or 5 years ago, thats when she lost her job and hasnt been looking for a new one. she is 44 and I havent spoken to anyone about treatment (my grandmother has) I guess she was supposed to meet with someone once a week after she was released but she keeps making excuses to not go. she past out (because she is not eating) so I call 911 and they told us to go to the emergency room, and I called a conselor to come look at her, and they told her she must go.

So, when you say she's been to the hospital you don't mean a psychiatric hospital?

If she's not eating, that's not going to help things. How involved is her boyfriend and your grandmother in getting her help?

She has been to a psych hospital twice and an emergency room many times. She broke up with him, he is not good for her, but she still talks to him going back and forth from "you son of a ***** you sick mother ****er" to "I love you and miss you" she thinks he is doing all of the terrible things.

She lives with my Grandma and she doesnt really allow her to help or say much, my mom is really good at isolating herself from people "who dont love her or care about her" (which is not the case)
