My boyfriend just quit his job because he got frustrated and angry. Without thinking about anything else, his anger gets the best of him and caused him to blow up at his boss. Less than 24 hours before we talked about how good our life has become, we worked through so many struggles over the last 5 years. He immediately felt bad about it and knew it would upset me. I don't know what to do. He says he's going to try and make it right and I really hope he does, but I need some advice. For the first time in a long time I felt happy and stable and hopeful and all that went away in an instant and I just don't understand. He's bi-polar, I know it deep down, but he's never been diagnosed and isn't being treated for it. He's treating his depression, anxiety and ADD with buspare, adderall, and ativan. But from what I understand, treatment for BPD is much different and is treated with different meds. If there's anyone out there that can help me understand or suggest a BPD med? I'm at my wits' end. Please help.

Usually it's treated by an anti depressant, anti psychotic, mood stabilizer and therapy.

Hello,

Sorry you are struggling with your BF.

"BPD" generally refers to Borderline Personality Disorder, not to be confused with Bipolar Disorder. What other symptoms is he displaying? Simply blowing up at his boss and being angry are not part of the DSM Diagnostic Criteria for Bipolar Disorder.

I hope you find that stability you have been enjoying again soon. Please let me know if I can offer insight. Thanks,

moogs
