Has anyone here had any experience with someone who has autism that are low and high functions? The reason that I am asking is because I had some really bad experience and I am not sure how to better handle this situation. I don't know if this is even normal. I have a friend of the family who babysit someone who is severe mentally retarded, severely autism who say inappropriate things to people and ask multiple question repeatedly, who has harm people in general, threaten people, and has tried to sexually assault people who is low function autism. I have a nephew who high function autism, ADHD, mood swing, odd who ask multiple question who has become violent or has threaten people is now suspended and is working on the way of being expelled from school. I had a friend who I had no choice but to end my friendship with because of how violent and emotionally abusive she had become toward me. She had began threaten me online to the point I had no choice but to block her online. She start telling me inappropriate things and then suddenly felt she was entitled to question me about my knowledge over information she had no idea of what she was talking about. She full people into thinking she is an adult when she really just a teenager. Is this normal for someone who is autism to act this way? What can I do when this happen?

[QUOTE=Buffy01;6076462]Has anyone here had any experience with someone who has autism that are low and high functions? The reason that I am asking is because I had some really bad experience and I am not sure how to better handle this situation ehen it comes to discrimination. I don't know if this is even normal for someone who suffer from this disorder. I have a friend of the family who babysit someone who is severe mentally retarded, severely autism who say inappropriate things, does inappropriate things and ask multiple question repeatedly, who is low function autism. Is this a normal for someone who is low function autism? My dister hss ben tonmsny thetspist for my nephew not !any has been able tomrewlly hwlp hee. I have a nephew who high function autism, ADHD, mood swing, ODD who is being discriminate for his disorder and is now being thrraten to be suspended or has been suspend in the past and is working on the way of being expelled from school. Is this normal for someone who is high function autism? Is this a normal for those who suffer from this disorder to experience this in school? Has anyone ever had problem being in school with this disorder. Has anyone has this order felt they need to fool other out of fear of the way they would be treated? Is this normal for someone who is autism to act this way? What can I do when this happen when it come to the right of education? I felt horrible because there was nothing that i could do for my nephew who has been bullied by his classmates and teacher for his disorder.
I am just asking for some basic information about this disorder. So that I can help other who have this disorder? This is not meant to upset or offend anyone. I am just asking question from those who had some experience in this and how they dealt with this. I was surprised to find out how much discrimination has taken place in my nephew school since his diagnosed. Since his diagnosed my nephew has trouble staying in class in finishing a whole day because those who were supposed to help him didn't have any kind of experience with this disorder. It had remind me when I was in school because of my hearing disability and how much discrimination I had to go against. In my experience I never saw anything that my nephew went through while I was in school. Even though I only had one classmates who is autism to some degree and he left in the middle of the year. I never saw my classmates go through the bullying my nephew is going through. My nephew had to change to multiple schools because of the constantly discrimination he face in one school year. How common is this for someone who has autism to have to transfer school in one year? Is there something that we can buy that is meant to comfort someone who has autism when they are in a melt down? Like a blanket something that make them feel secure? I thought about training a dog to be come a services dog. What about a cat? Could a cat be helpful with some of the melt down? Is rocking and pacing a soothing techniques? What can I do to help with my nephew with his melt down? Sometime my nephew can get information backward. He can say I has a dog when you were a little girl. Meaning when you were a little girl you had a dog. He will ask a question repeatedly or tell some one the same information he said said give minutes ago. Is this something that is common? It very frustrating for my nephew who want to have friends and fit in. It so hard because of his conditions. Is there something that I could suggest to my sister about his social skills? /QUOTE] |

I’m not familiar with autism. Have you tried doing some research online or reading a book about it?

My son has autism among other things. Sometimes he says inappropriate thing. We homeschooled him so he wasn't picked on badly. He had a therapist he saw often and was part of many homeschool groups and things at the library. His meltdowns are more internal then external. He loves his weighted blanket. As for a service animal only dogs and miniature horses are allowed. There are several things you can teach a service dog to do depending on your nephew's needs.
