I have a family member that says she has been secretly recorded on camera and famous singers have made fun of her and have made music videos mocking her. Also, whatever appears on TV she says they have done it to mock her. In real life it is the same, she accuses almost everyone expect her children.
What type of illness is this? |

Hello michaeaaron: Thank you for bringing your concern here to PC. I see this is your first post. So... welcome to Psych Central.
We here on PC cannot offer mental health diagnoses. Plus I'm not a mental health professional. So I can't suggest to you what type of illness your family member may be struggling with. However based on what you wrote it sounds as though, whatever your family member's diagnosis might be, she is experiencing delusions. Here are links to 7 articles, from Psych Central's archives, that talk about what delusions are & how to cope with someone who has them plus one article on how to persuade your loved one to seek professional help: 10 Things You Should Know About Delusions | Caregivers, Family & Friends 10 Things You Should Do With Someone Who Suffers Delusions | Caregivers, Family & Friends 8 Ways To Cope With Someone Who Has Delusions | Caregivers, Family & Friends Coping With Your Loved One's Delusions | Caregivers, Family & Friends Delusional Disorder: 8 Ways To Communicate Without Fighting | Caregivers, Family & Friends https://blogs.psychcentral.com/careg...ional-beliefs/ https://blogs.psychcentral.com/careg...-to-delusions/ https://psychcentral.com/blog/how-to...essional-help/ I hope you find PC to be of benefit. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." Welcome to Psych Central! As the Skeez says, we aren't able/allowed to diagnose. Seems like some sort of delusional disorder to me, who is not an expert.
