There's good news - hospice said Mom does not qualify for their services at this point. Her primary care wrote orders for hospice because her kidneys are failing. Well, they might be failing, but by hospice's standards they aren't bad enough for her to need hospice yet. That's good news, right? As soon as I get over the stress of the last week I'll feel good about it. Right now my head is still reeling.

I am not sure it is good or bad. A hospice usually gives great care and they seem nice places to live in. It can be very stressful to look after a parent who might be in decline. Only you can know this.

It's good news. It means Mom is not at death's door. I agree hospice can provide excellent end of life care. Mom doesn't need their services - yet.
Mom's living in an assisted living facility where she gets excellent care. The staff at the ALF treat the residents like they are family. |

It's good you've got a reprieve. And I'm glad the assistive living is a good place. I know you'll make the best of her time left.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. Didn't realize hospice was for end of life care. Thank God she is not quite at that point. Now I understand. God bless.
