I posted here a long, long time ago, but have been absent for some years. I was recently diagnosed with Impulse Control Disorder NOS. The most common types of ICD are kleptomania, pyhromania, alcoholism/drug addiction, sex addiction, gambling, etc. I, on the other hand, am a compulsive spender.
When not spending/shopping, I tend to self medicate with alcohol (not to excess), precription meds (anti-anxiety or pain meds) and cigarette smoking. Does anyone here have any insights into this problem? I could use all the help I can get. Thanks so much! hi elizabeth,
I also have impulse related issues as a result of hurts from the past. I'm now learning to address my hurts so that I don't gravitate towards food and other things to give me joy or change my mood. Keep us posted on how you are doing and welcome back. |
