Hi,
I have just been diagnosed after about 20 years with Dependent, Avoindant personality with a bit of perfectionist thrown in. Although happy with diagnoses, now need to learn more about it. Any suggestions and also what types of meds are used would be very helpful. Thanks

Meds are generally not particularly useful for personality disorders themselves, but might help if you have symptoms like depression or anxiety. If you are perfectionistic, it is likely that you have some anxiety. You will need to talk to your doctor if you are interested in meds. I would suggest writing down the specific symptoms that you would like help with. For some of them, CBT or some other talk therapy will probably help more than meds will. If you click the "Disorder" and "Resources" tabs, you can probably find more specific treatment ideas for your specific symptoms and disorders.

It's really not a good idea to ask us to recommend meds here online; is there a reason you can't talk to your doctor about it?
