Is having BPD something you will have to live with the rest of your life?

Technically I believe if you have 5 of the 9 symptoms you a "considered" borderline - If you eliminate one then technically you are not "considered" borderline.
My personal opinion is that it is manageable and with time new coping strageties could move you to a less borderline place. My issue is always when stress comes up I result to the unhealthy ways of BPD. So I guess that is the true test - being able to reactive differently then in the past.

I can feel myself slipping again. I hate having to lie that everything is okay but I am so tired of worrying everybody and I don't want to go back into the hospital. I just recently was able to get my meds back to take on my own. This seems so unfair to have to deal with this. It's really embarrassing.

I think as Direction says you can cope/work with it and, with time, as in most things, the behaviors can change. I don't think it will just "go away" like a cold will though as it's not something from outside but part of one's makeup.
